Lowell Digisnode International LLC (LDI) researchs and develops technologies involving radio sounding from ground and space. The firm's two primary technologies are Digisonde® Portable Sounder, for radio waves from earth, and IMAGE/RPI, for space. Both instruments are used for space-weather monitoring and ionospheric modeling, using high-frequency radio waves for the remote sensing of the ionospher. The firm's name, Digisnode, stands for Digitally Integrating Goniometric IonoSONDE, and its products are the only commercially available ionosonde system that measures all parameters of the ionospherically reflected HF radio signals, and automatically calculates the local ionospheric electron density profile in real time.
