Public Profile

Extrel Corporation, also known as ABB Extrel (formerly Extranuclear Laboratories) is a premier manufacturer of quadrupole mass spectrometer systems and components for a wide range of applications including gas analysis and materials characterization. ABB Extrel is a division of ABB Process Analytics, which is in turn a part of the global ABB Group (Asea Brown Boveri). Industrial mass spectrometer systems from ABB Extrel are used by petrochemical and chemical manufacturers to monitor processes and improve product quality and yield. A wide range of ABB Extrel Research Component configurations are used by scientists at universities and in industry, including four Nobel laureates, to perform focused research in the characterization of gases and materials. Semiconductor manufacturers use ABB Extrel mass spectrometers to monitor bulk gases, monitor processes and control quality in wafer manufacturing. ABB Extrel also supplies components on an OEM basis to a number of analytical system manufacturers for applications including ICP-MS and SIMS analysis (inductively coupled plasma and secondary ion mass spectrometry). In 1992, the Exctrel Corporation was acquired by Water's Corporation (NYSE: WAT)
