Elctra.aero Inc is an aerospace company developing a clean, quiet, hybrid-electric short takeoff and landing aircraft (eSTOLS) for urban and regional air travel. In comparison to electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft (eVTOLs) - usingmost of their battery power to takeoff vertically - the company's ultra-short takeoff and landing planes use a 100x300' area to takeoff but do not need a runway. Further, they can carry larger payloads. The aircraft is both cost-efficient and sustainable while offering travelers a quick regional air travel solution t- effectively filling the gap between ground transportation and large transport aircrafts. In January 2022, it was announced that the firm had raised a Series A funding round (amount not specified) from Lockheed Martin Ventures (LMV), the venture capital arm of Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE:LMT). It is reported that the funding is to be used to support Electra's plans to begin flight testing a full-scale hybrid eSTOL technology demonstrator aircraft later this year.
