Public Profile

An important percentage of America’s young children enter kindergarten lacking the pre-literacy skills crucial to school success - effectively meaning that every year, over 1.3 million children enter kindergarten on Day 1 lraedy lagging behind their peers. With myIGDIs, early childhood educators are able to identify at-risk children early and communicate development goals often to ensure their children will be properly prepared and school-ready. myIGDIs are a set of research-based assessment measures that enable early childhood educators and parents to monitor their children's early literacy development. Early Development Labs available producs include assessment materials, web-based reporting services, and professional development training. The initial research and development of the Individual Growth and Development Indicators (IGDIs) was conducted at the University of Minnesota in the late ‘90s, based on over a decade of previous research in measurement procedures. Funded by federal research grants, the IGDIs have since been redesigned and evaluated empirically in a series of studies with special attention to reliability and validity indices. In April 2019 it was reported that Early Learning Labs had been acquired by Renaissance Learning that, interesting had been acquired only a year earlier by the technology focused private equity firm Francisco Partners.
