Having originally had a robotic radio surgery focus, the CyberKnife Stereotactic Radiosurgery System is a non-invasive, frameless, image-guided radiosurgery system that can ablate tumors and other lesions anywhere in the body without open surgery. It is believed to be the only system that integrates real-time image guidance and robotic delivery of radiation to deliver proven sub-millimeter total clinical accuracy with T4 or Tight To The Tumor conformality In December 2004, Accuray purchased certain assets of High Energy Systems Division of American Science and Engineering, Inc, a leader in X-ray detection technology and an extensively involved SBIR firm and whent public in 2007.
