The Navy has been evaluating a variety of methods to capture venerated knowledge from experienced Sailors to share with the next generation. While significant progress has been made on methods to capture expertise, additional work is needed to ensure the shared knowledge is properly curated and distributed so that all Sailors can benefit from the peer-to-peer knowledge sharing approach. To meet this need, Design Interactive Inc. in partnership with Old Dominion University (ODU) Research Foundation proposes the development of Contribute, Approve, Curate, Hyper-distribution Engine (CACHE), a web-based knowledge curation and distribution system designed to automate knowledge sharing. CACHE makes the process of accessing relevant content intuitive. Utilizing content captured from Sailors, CACHE routes content to designated individuals for review and approval, ensuring accuracy. Content is then distributed via role-based workflows to relevant Sailors, making content available. Finally, within a web-based content library, CACHE curates content to ensure accessibility. CACHE introduces flexibility and speed to the curation and distribution of peer-generated content by making content accurate, available, and accessible. Aided by AI and ML engines, CACHE curates a content library most relevant to each Sailor, effectively preserving and transferring practical experiential knowledge typically shared only in one-on-one interactions to all Sailors. The Navy has been evaluating a variety of methods to capture venerated knowledge from experienced Sailors to share with the next generation.
