Fakespace proposes a thorough investigation of potential solutions to develop a hybrid immersive / non-immersive system. The system would provide an immersive interface for spatially dominant tasks and a large format display for concurrent use as a non-immersive interface. Both interfaces would support the same navigational paradigm. This paradigm allows easy navigational control over 6 orders of magnitude. The display systems and software will support seamless transitions from the immersive environment to the large format display. The system will be suitable for ship board use and will function in confined spaces and will incorporate tracking technologies immune to external interference.
