The design of charged particle accelerators is often a laborious process requiring a large investment in time and effort. Computer modeling has the potential to streamline this process, but only if the software is both powerful and user-friendly. This project will create a virtual reality laboratory that combines a powerful simulation algorithm with a graphically rich user experience. The software will run on an inexpensive desktop computer and will be capable of performing sophisticated space charge calculations and modeling of radiation processes. During Phase I, a powerful space charge model will be implemented, a model for transition radiation will be incorporated, support for multiple processors will be installed, and several applications will be produced.

Commercial Applications and Other Benefits as described by the awardee:
The software should be useful to all those working with charged particle beams or those working with light optics
