Attollo Engineering proposes to design and build a TRL6/TRL 7 prototype laser sensing device spanning the spectrum from 450 nanometers (nm) to 1600nm that is man or vehicle mount capable. Attollo has a TRL 8/9 device called the OMNir ( that senses laser designators (1064nm) and laser rangefinders (1550nm) designed originally for fratricide avoidance. In that product, we differentiate the lasers through a varied haptic vibration notification to the warfighter for each wavelength. As our near peer adversaries continue to develop technology that provides spectral access to SWIR for precision fires of their own using laser designation and laser pointing, it is imperative that our U.S. warfighters know if they are being targeted. Also important is the laser wavelength to know if the warfighter is being targeted by a laser designator, laser rangefinder or laser rangefinder. Attollo is working on next generation semi active laser (SAL) seeker technology which uses Attollo designed and manufactured sensors to extend precision fires capability to longer wavelengths. Increasing the wavelength provides for our ability to covertly engage the enemy. Attollo intends to utilize a similar sensing capability in the proposed prototype. As next generation lasers continue to be advanced and developed, they will likely include some type of communications within the laser pulse stream, and Attollo’s sensor will be able to see the code within the laser and determine if it is our or the enemies. Attollo’s current laser sensing device, the OMNir, utilizes Attollo’s SWIR detector/sensor to identify and classify an incoming laser events that are 1064nm and 1550nm. It is powered by a single 123A battery giving the warfighter 40 hours of continuous operation. Attollo intends to modify the form factor of the commercially available TRL9 Phoenix SWIR camera and include 4 sensors into the hemispherical laser sensing device proposed herein. The proposed approach will provide detection of a continuum of wavelengths to include 532, 632, 1064, 1300, and 1550 and weigh

Attollo and team will design and develop a compact wearable laser warning system that weighs less than 75 grams and will cost less than $5k in 1000-unit quantities. The expected run time is beyond 81 hours utilizing a conformal wearable battery. The proposed solution integrates a diffractive optical element with Attollo Engineering’s 5µm Short Wave Infrared Phoenix Focal Plane Array that works in tandem with 8x commercial off the shelf photodiodes for determination of laser: wavelength, angle of incidence, power, pulse width, pulse repetition rate and pulse repetition code.
