In July 2022, a KC-135 at MacDill AFB had to abort takeoff and perform an emergency maneuver to avoid a collision because miscommunication between air traffic controllers and the flight crew lead to another aircraft being mistakenly cleared to cross the runway. This potentially catastrophic incident highlights the importance of ATC training. Current ATC training is subjective with very little standardization to indicate when an individual has achieved mastery. The training ATCs do have is outdated and incomplete - $47M wasted with this program in the last decade ? leading to unsafe airfields and ineffective defense of our National Security. UFA has the solution. Our simulation and training tool, ATXR, meets today's trainees where they are ? providing a modern & immersive, Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality capability ? using physiological metrics in adaptive training scenarios in the mixed reality environment to provide accelerated air traffic control training.
