Recently, NanoAl has commercialized a modified 5000-series aluminum alloy (Addalloy® 5T), specifically designed for additive manufacturing, which can produce dense (>99.5%), crack-free components when processed by laser powder bed fusion. NanoAl has recently applied the same, proven technology to the 7000 series aluminum alloys, resulting in Addalloy® 7S, an ultra-high strength, low-density aluminum alloy. NanoAl has developed two 7000 series alloys to be investigated for AM – an Al-Zn-Mg and an Al-Zn-Mg-Cu based alloy. Comparing to wrought AA7075-T6, a common aerospace aluminum alloy with a yield strength of ~500 MPa, the two NanoAl alloys are 20 and 35% stronger, respective
