Bioquant was originally doing business as the Michigan Research Corporation with the firm's operations anchored in tehnology developed at University of Michigan. The firm subsequently relocated to Southern California and was renamed. in June 1996, BioQuant was acquired by Pacific Biometrics Inc., a publicly traded firm itself also being SBIR funded and in the business of developing diagnostics and offering laboratory services to detect and manage chronic diseases
