In March of 2007 Mesoscopic Devices LLC was acquired by another SBIR firm. Protonex Technology of Massachusetts. Mesoscopic Devices, LLC is involved in recent advances in techniques for fabricating precision structures in the 100 mm to 10 mm range. This mesoscopic size scale lies between traditional macroscopic machining and the microscopic size scale associated with silicon micromachining. Mesoscopic structures find application in a wide range of portable and airborne equipment, wherever requirements for low weight and input power make conventional equipment impractical and unwieldy. Mesoscopic Devices' technology basis lies at the intersection of fluids, structures, heat transfer and precision electromechanical systems. Work is concentrated in cryogenics and miniature fluid and heat transfer components with systems finding applications in medical, industrial, military and aerospace markets. Mesoscopic Devices employees have extensive background in cryogenic and vacuum systems, thermal and fluid systems, project management and industrial research and development.
