Cornerstone Research Group, Inc. ("CRG") is a research and development corporation with diverse capabilities in polymers, composites, optics, data acquisition and control, process control, electronics design, systems design, non-metallic advanced materials, and manufacturing process development. SBIR involved almost straight out of the box (1987) and stil program active, the firm is focused on the design and application of state-of-the-art materials for commercial and military markets. Cornerstone Research Group also functions as an incubator for emerging technologies ready to be introduced into the marketplace. Each viable technology stemming from government SBIRs and other research programs has its own potential target market or target system for implementation. Therefore, a specialized business approach is needed to develop and mature each new technology. To address these diverse business needs and opportunities, the firm creates spin-off companies that focus on commercializing promising technologies. CRG has spun off CRG Industries LLC, a manufacturing business focused on syntactic laminate materials and their applications, shape memory thermoplastic and an isolation repair system for composites. It has also spun off Spintech Ventures LLC, a company commercializing Smart Tooling technology and consumer repair products based on shape memory materials. The firm's other spin-offs are Advantic LLC, which focuses on anti-corrosion technologies for the marine industry, and NONA Composites, which develops epoxy resins for composites.
