Public Profile

In July 2103, Markem-Imaje Corporation announced they had acquired RSI Systems LLC. RSI Systems continues to operate as a Markem subsiduary but is no longer SBIR eligible. RSI Systems LLC manufactures integrated thermal inkjet (TIJ) printing solutions for printing high-resolution codes, such as complex 2D barcodes, that can be used for traceability, anti-diversion and promotional coding printing applications. RSIs’ Industrial Manifold System (IMS) for bulk ink delivery can be used for longer packaging runs and to run multiple shifts needing robust coding ink supply. The state-of-the-art system is built around a 350-milliliter ink supply that extends running time compared to the standard 42-milliliter ink capacity of most thermal inkjet cartridges. This larger supply offers cost advantages, with reduced per-imprint costs and less operator attention in monitoring systems. It fits into an ink supply stall assembly that permits snap-in, snap-out installation of the cartridge. The changeover is so fast that cartridges can be “hot swapped”—changed on the line by an operator while the line is in operation. The IMS uses modular components that permit it to be tailored to specific lines and specific needs. Key components include the enclosed regulator assembly allowing the ink supply and the regulator itself to be mounted some distance from the packaging line, in order for engineers to fit the application into a specific location and match the orientation of print
