Public Profile

Multi-channel noise cancellation: signal separation and active control of noise/vibration.builds controllers for multi-channel active noise/vibration control and for removing noise/artifact from measured signals. Patented SFR-SVD Method overcomes major shortcomings of the widely used LMS algorithm and its derivatives including Filtered-X. It allows to use as many noise or vibration reference sensors as needed, whereas the common LMS algorithm acts unpredictably when more than one noise measurement is applied. Our algorithm also provides wide-band cancellation where other methods fail. We develop software for statistical power analysis and meta analysis including both separation of a signal from noise and active control of noise and vibration. Our software and noise canceller DSP computers are based on an innovative patented algorithm that eliminates problems of redundancy and ill-condition in the acquired data. As a result our cancellers routinely work highly effectively where standard algorithms provide little if any cancellation. We have successfully tested a canceller developed under Army SBIR contract to enable an air-acoustic detection system mounted atop an HMMWV vehicle by cancelling vehicle self-noise from the roof-mounted microphones. We are working adding feedforward control to a vibration isolation table such as those used in semiconductor manufacturing and metrology.
