Technical Directions, Inc.(TDI) had been a small engineering firm specializing in the design, development, and production of very small, low cost turbojet engines with an emphasis primarily on Military Applications. Designed primarily for the propulsion of expendable aerial vehicles, operating in the high subsonic speed region, the emphasis at TDI had been primarily been low cost engine designs versus expensive "cutting edge" technology engines. The result of this emphasis had lead to the evolution of very low cost expendable engines that would still be competitive in performance. High production turbocharger rotating components were utilized as the core of the engines, greatly reducing the manufacturing costs, development risks, and capital investment. Technical Directions Inc. (TDI) has been developing turbine engine related technologies for industrial and military applications for the past two decades. The base technologies developed during this period have provided some unique features that are focused at the low-cost/expendable turbojet engine applications, such as mini-cruise missiles. In February 2020 the Kratos Unmanned Sstems division acquired Technical Directions for an estimated $10.5M - which transaction made the small firmno longer SBIR eligible.for future awards in that program. Kratos (NASDAQ:KTOS) is technology company specializing in directed-energy weapons, unmanned systems, satellite communications, cyber security/warfare, microwave electronics, missile defense, training and combat systems
