Public Profile

In July 2014, it was announced that Sierra Nevada Corporation had successfully completed acquisition of Orbital Technologies Corporation. Extensively involved in SBIR from the time of its founding, Orbital Technologies Corporation (ORBITEC) has grown to become a major player in the development of smaller, more affordbale space and launch systems. The firm offers commercially mature solutions and strong capabilities in five distinct areas: Propulsion, Space Resources, and Energy; Emergency Response Systems; Human Support Systems and Instrumentation; BioProducts and BioProduction Systems; and Interactive 3D Systems and Services. ORBITEC’s broad range of applications and experience senables them to analyse, design, build, integrate, deliver, and manage programs as a turn-key contractor or as an integral systems partner. The firm supports the entire development life cycle of its solutions, from creative concept development and prototyping through full systems deployment including engineering, structural, thermal, fluid and reliability analyses, fabrication, manufacturing, testing and verification, modeling, simulation, and complete mechanical, electrical, and software design. ORBITEC’s successful method for creating and implementing new technologies has yielded consistent customer satisfaction, bolstered by its expert technical staff, facilities, and equipment. ORBITEC was awarded the two of largest Small Business Innovation Research (“SBIR”) Phase III implementation contracts in NASA’s history for development of spaceflight hardware for the International Space Station.
