Public Profile

Previously known as Imaging Sciences Technologies Inc, Empirical Technologies Corporation (ETC) develops sensor technologies for physiological monitoring applications in humans and animals. One of the firm's product - Caretaker - CareTaker, is a non-invasive beat-by-beat blood pressure device useful for personal sleep apnea for apnea, automatic early warning of nocturnal hypoglycemia, asthma severity measurement via pulsus paradoxus, hemorrhage monitor, and other uses. A current emphasis is on commercializing CareTaker a multi-parameter vital signs monitor detecting beat by beat blood pressure, ECG accurate heart rate, and respiration rate in humans and some animals. CareTaker is the first passive, noninvasive detector of hemorrhage. CareTaker can record blood pressure all night; likely replace most invasive arterial catheters and detect dehydration. It is small, wrist mounted, comfortable, and Bluetooth enabled for connection to the cloud - effectively an Automated Critical Care System. The company also offers ETCMouse, a wireless mouse and rodent physiological monitoring system for mobile rodents, such as rats and particularly mice; and CareTaker, a physiological monitor system that acquires pulsations of digital artery and determines heartbeat/blood pressure using pulse decomposition analysis in real time. Its products are sold over the counter and by a prescription. ETC has experience in physiological lifesigns monitoring, sensor design and implementation, electronic circuit design, and algorithmic signal processing. ETC's R&D focus is in the areas of the following technologies: Non-Invasive Physiological Monitoring (Heart & Respiratory Rate, Blood Pressure, Pulsus Paradoxus); Small Animal Physiological Monitoring (Rat/Mouse); Gait Analysis and Falls Monitor for Elderly (Non-obtrusive floor vibration sensor development with MARC). The present emphasis is to commercialize CareTaker a multi-parameter vital signs monitor detecting beat by beat blood pressure, ECG accurate heart rate, and respiration rate in humans and some animals.
