The company is focused on the areas of navigation, mapping and localization, search and detection, and dexterous mobile manipulation to create a suite of robot behaviors. In contrast to most firms in the space whose efforts are anchored in GPS, mapping, planning and continuous communication, 5D Robotics instead emphasizes rapid, reactive, biologically-inspired behavioral responses to provide extremely accurate position and navigation, obstacle avoidance, and guarded motion.
