For over 20 years, Drs. Hawkins and Catalano, professors of social work at the University of Washington and directors of the Social Development Research Group, have been at the forefront of prevention science theory and application. Internationally known for their research in positive youth development and crime, violence, and substance abuse prevention, they founded Developmental Research and Programs, Inc. (DRP) in 1984 to translate research findings into programs and services for promoting healthy development among young people and families. In 2000, DRP joined forces with Channing L. Bete Co., Inc.
