With facilities and personnel in Madison, WI and in Pacific Grove CA, Steam Instruments is an early-stage start-up with principals having ties to University of Wisconsin. Structured around improving the mass range, quantum efficiency, and spatial resolution of mass spectrometry., an area of currently interest is development of a quantum ion detector and quantum ion imaging detector with unprecedented detection efficiency of almost any mass ion or biomolecule. In combination with the firm's novel ion imaging optics and high-mass spectrometer designs, the effort is significantly to advance the state of the art in direct-from-tissue biomolecule mapping and quantification, ultra-high-mass biomolecule analysis, and high-resolution nuclear forensics mapping with unprecedented speed.
