The Phase I program will investigate, test, and evaluate various methods for converting visible and near-IR terrain imagery to short-wave IR (SWIR). The candidate methods will include several technologies such as terrain material classification, supervised and unsupervised classification, machine learning (cognitive neural networks), and SWIR imaging phenomenology. Candidate conversion methods will be tested for fidelity, realism, processing speed, and ability to work over a range of image resolutions and terrain characteristics. A preferred method for Phase II development will be identified.Short wave infrared,Simulation,Terrain Imagery, machine learning,Image processing,Terrain Classification,Multi-spectral Imagery,Common Database
