Dimagi Inc is a health informatics company designing and developing open-source software technology suitable for low-resource settings and underserved communitiess: public and chronic health disease management. Based in Cambridge MA but Dimagi having offices in New Delhi, India, Cape Town, South Africa, Maputo, Mozambique, and Dakar, Senegal, projects range from creating mobile apps for clinicians treating tuberculosis patients, to incentivizing people in Bangladesh to access educational materials in return for free airtime, to a national medical record system used in Zambia for HIV care (now led by the Zambian Ministry of Health and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control). Dimagi Inc, along with UNICEFs Innovation group, has developed RapidSMS, a developmental, open source and highly flexible SMS text-based framework system designed for data collection and complex workflows and customizable for the specialized needs and constraints of governments, multilateral and non-government organizations, and development practitioners. The framework was created by programmers in the field, working directly on actual project implementations, to ensure that the system is both practical and simple enough to meet real world needs.
