Public Profile

A privately held medical device and technology company organized around development of orthopedic devices that provide real time visual feedback to surgeons during their surgical procedure, XpandOrtho has been focused on improving the standard of care in total knee replacement surgeries by providing measurable and consistent results to all surgeons and patients. In March 2019,it was announced that Gainsville FL based Exactech (NSDQ:EXAC) had acquired XpandOrtho for an undisclosed amount. Indications are that the acquiring firm will incorporate XpandOrthoÂ’s soft tissue balancing technology into Exaectech's ExactechGPS computer-assisted surgery system designed to support shoulder and knee replacements. In 2017 XpandOrtho had achieved FDA clearance for an electronic soft-tissue balancing instrument intended for total knee arthroplasty. The tool uses multiple sensors within a knee joint to guide soft tissue balancing, and a novel pneumatic-based bellows system which wirelessly communicates with a display to provide gap balancing feedback throughout the kneeÂ’s range of motion.
