Public Profile

Applied MicroStructures was acquired in December 2016 by Orbiteech. Applied Microstrcurures provides tools, technologies and expertise that enables the deposition of molecular-level films for a broad range of nanotech applications in microsystems, life sciences and research arenas. The company's Molecular Vapor Deposition (MVD(TM)) technology represents a radical new technique that enables the controlled deposition of films. These self-aligned, highly uniform and customizable ultra-thin films can be deposited across a broad spectrum of substrate types and sizes, and are deployed in diverse nano- applications, including microsensors, life-sciences and nano-technology research. MVD is a breakthrough proprietary nanotechnology technique that allows for room temperature vapor deposition of several types of organic and organometallic molecules. This innovative technique has facilitated many new emerging applications with small feature sizes that have been difficult or impossible using traditional liquid synthetic techniques. Due to its versatility, MVD is an ideal process for modifying surfaces properties. Films created using MVD can serve as hydrophobic, hydrophilic, biocompatible, protective, ordering, or reactive coatings.
