A spin-off of the Center for Turbulence Research at Stanford University, Cascade Technologies, Inc. is organized around providing high-fidelity models and simulations dramatically to accelerate and enhance product development cycles for users - those in industry needing to bridge the gap between fundamental research in turbulence simulation and its application in industries. For devices involving the complex coupling of turbulent mixing, combustion, phase change, heat transfer, acoustics, and other physical processes, designers have relied heavily on physical tests and then use the results of these experiments to calibrate the available simulation models, Through these first-principles simulations offered by Cascade, Users are provided insights into their systems performance before prototype testing. The company supports high fidelity Large Eddy Simulation (LES) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis tools for engineering applications across industries. The development team consists of PhDs with experience in fluid dynamics, physical modeling, numerical analysis, and computer science. Stanford faculty and research associates participate as consultants on specific projects. Current flagship product, CharLES, is a multiphase, combustive and reactive Large Eddy Simulation package geared towards accurate prediction of thermal, species, and flow field in complex geometries.
