Public Profile

Structured around developing practical manufacturing solutions for challenging chemical transformations, in mid-January 2023, Cambrex -- a leading global contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) providing drug substance, drug product, and analytical services across the entire drug lifecycle -- announced that it had completed acquisition of Snapdragon Chemistry, itself a leading US-based provider of chemical process development services to a broad range of emerging and established biopharma customers. Originally spun out of MIT and Boston University, Snapdragon was established and led by a management team highly experienced in the arena of continuous flow chemistry and associated developments. The firm had been structured to enable clients to harness the advantages of continuous flow chemistry to discover more effective medicines and other advanced organic materials, accelerate development, and optimize manufacturing. Anchored in decades of work and practical application, the principals demonstrate that continuous flow chemistry can/should be applied throughout the entire discovery >> development >> manufacturing value chain to gain the technology’s optimal benefits, the firm is focused on developing practical manufacturing solutions for challenging chemical transformations to enable discovery, development, and implementation of scalable synthetic processes for clients. These include Fortune 100 companies as well as many leading-edge startup companies. With clients seeking innovative, timely, productive, cost-effective, and robust solutions for their discovery and manufacturing needs, the effort is to apply proprietary chemical and engineering techniques which enable the solving of the most challenging chemical development processes - employing an array of in-line and at-line PAT technologies for real-time monitoring and control. Process demonstration on gram or kilogram scale is followed by seamless pilot-scale GMP-capable production. In Feb 2021, DARPA awarded Snapdragon a $1.5M contract to develop continuous technology for US-based-manufacturin
