Multimedia Data Services Corporation (MDSC) started with the development of web-based applications designed to assist tourists in locating rural tourism services. Company officials and a board of directors were organized and began to function. In 1996 through a grant from the Utah Department of Community and Economic Development, it expanded its applications to include a Utah business database, and web-based surveys via e-mail and the web. In 1998, it successfully bid to transfer an agri-business website (cyber-fair.com) from the Utah Department of Community Development and began further development. In 1995 MDSC, in cooperation with Utah State University, successfully bid for a National Scenic Byway website development grant and began a succesful relationship with the U.S. Federal Highway Administration.
