Spun out of Cornell University, Ecolectro Inc is a polymer company organized around development of materials designed for use in the arenas of clean fuels and chemicals. With a founding team passionate about tackling climate change and preserving the environment, the firm is focused on alkaline membranes that enablereplacement of platinum catalysts with non-precious metal alternatives within fuel cell membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs). Developing structurally robust and highly conductive polymer membranes for a range of applications - to include fuel cells - using this technology the firm's manufactured fuel cells can potentially be produced at significantly lower cost than current state-of-the-art systems while also promising increased durability. Ecolectro is defectively organized around developing alkaline exchange membranes and ionomers that enable low-cost fuel cell and electrolyzer technologies. Ecolectroâs membranes and ionomers are resilient to the harsh operating conditions present in existing alkaline exchange membranes and that effectively prevent their widespread adoption in commercial applications. Effectively implemented, this technology c/would be simple, cost effective, and well-suited to large-scale processing. Further, Ecolectroâs membranes would demonstrate comparable durability and improved efficiency over state-of-the-art proton exchange membran
