Ashburn, VA, 11/22/2011, D-Tech, LLC, a technology-focused small business, announced today that it received a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) grant from the U.S. Air Force. Under this award, D-Tech will develop a prototype system to demonstrate the feasibility and flexibility of a lightweight identity management solution, integrating the latest OpenID standards with Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) based attribute services. This research effort is intended to establish a new standard-based approach for delivering the next generation of identity and access control capabilities to DoD and large enterprise environment, with the essential security functions such as user authentication and authorization, single sign-on, and attribute-based access control (ABAC) in a flexible and cost-effective way.

"While the existing SOAP/SAML based identity framework provides the necessary security solutions for XML-based Web Services, the OpenID-enabled security solutions will fill the gap of securing RESTful services as currently deployed in many DoD and Government Agencies", said Dr. Nick Duan, President and CTO of D-Tech, LLC. "We are very excited about this award. Our team is looking forward to working with the AF customers in completing the project successfully". The company is also looking into commercialization potentials of the anticipated research results from this effort.

The company has formed a top-notch research team for this project, including DoD security veterans and university researchers with a solid track record in computer security and information assurance. The company has established a collaborative partnership with the Center of Secure Information Systems of the George Mason University (GMU) in Fairfax, VA.
