Renew Power, a spinoff of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign,some time ago had been developing a product using formic acid as its power source a technology developed by a UI professor of chemistry and biomolecular engineering. Targeting the cellphone market as one of the primary markets for its fuel cells, the firm appears to have relocated to Nevada and was subsequently dissolved.
