System Dynamics International, Inc (SDI) was awarded a single award contract on September 24, 2013 to provide specialized professional, engineering and technical services for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) program office in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Accurate, reliable, and timely observations are critical to the NOAA mission of science, service, and stewardship. The 2010 NOAA Next Generation Strategic Plan (NGSP) sets a five-year objective for more reliable, accurate, and integrated earth observations for NOAA's Enterprise-wide Science and Technology. The NGSP specifically recognizes UAS and related sensor technologies as emerging capabilities which can strengthen NOAA's observation of hard-to-reach regions of the Earth such as the Arctic and remote ocean areas.

The NOAA UAS Program uses a systems approach to find, optimize, and transition high return, high benefit observing strategies into routine research or operational application by the NOAA Line Offices. Specifically, the NOAA UAS Program seeks to identify, demonstrate, evaluate, and integrate suitable unmanned observing systems into operations for improved understanding, prediction, monitoring, and assessment of high impact weather, polar, and marine events.
