GP Chemicals also manufactures products for specialized use in building and construction. • Paper chemical internal alkaline size resins and retention polymers are used to produce gypsum board. • Pine-based XTOL® tall oil fatty acids (TOFA) are used to develop additives for the concrete and asphalt industries while • Novares® tall oil rosin ester and LYTOR® tall oil rosins are used in the manufacture of pavement marking paints. GP® phenolic and melamine-formaldehyde resins are used in the manufacture of building and construction products such as foamboard and ceiling tile. Formaldehyde-Free and No-Added Formaldehyde Resins: With decades of experience in developing and applying formaldehyde base resins, GP Chemicals is now focused to development alternatives to formaldehyde for markets seeking other solutions. Example: LEAF FREE™ patent-pending thermosetting resins feature formaldehyde-free chemistries to replace traditional phenol-formaldehyde (PF) insulation and urea-formaldehyde (UF) glass mat resins. Designed for non-woven residential and commercial & industrial (C&I) insulation including fiberglass and mineral fiber applications. The new resins provide manufacturers with a formaldehyde-free binder system designed to reduce emissions, be easy-to-use, easy-to-store and requiring no capital investment for retrofitting. This supports attainment of GREENGUARD certification and may contribute toward points in green building rating systems such as LEED®, CHPS®, and REGREEN®.
