Public Profile

Zylon Corporation had been structured around improving the performance of medical polymeric materials to help medical device manufacturers in solving difficult medical materials issues. Zylon's BioPolymers were a modified version of several popular medical quality thermoplastics and thermoplastic elastomers. Utilitzing Zylon's patented technology, these materials are available in multiple grades. The modification, which does not affect the extrusion, injection molding or other process charateristic, results in improved heat and solvent resistance for a product. It may also result in improved biostability, increased creep resistance and decreased tensile and compressive set. Zylon focused on developing new technologies relating to polymers and compounds, medical materials, medical devices, catheters, balloon catheters, and extrusion processes. Firm was involved in a major dispute with Medtronic Inc which was the subject of Zylon Corp multi-week trial with the parties resolving the litigation on the eve of closing statements.
