ProFishent Inc is focused to addressing the growing need for research, products, and technical services for fish immunology and aquatic animal health. Through the development and/or application of advanced technologies, the firm is providing solutions to important fish health problems. Some of ProFishent's recent efforts have included investigations into the effects of PCBs and PAHs on immune function in Puget Sound salmon, development of new cryopreservatives to improve the efficacy of live vaccines for fish, testing of antibiotics to expand the array of therapeutants available to fish farmers, and research into new vaccine delivery systems and formulations. The firm has a variety of areas of expertise including: design and development of oral, immersion, and injection vaccines; fish disease diagnostics; palatability testing in fish; aquaculture project design and evaluation; evaluation of antibiotic efficacy in fish; determination of immunological effects of contaminants on fish; training in fish diseases, fish immunology, and fish culture techniques; and the development of improved cryopreservatives for viruses, bacteria, and fish gametes.
