NextGen Aeronautics, in collaboration with Prof. Cagin’s group at Texas A&M University and Prof. Vitali Nesterenko of the University of California, San Diego, is proposing a new computational tool, MesoShock, for microstructure-response prediction in energetic materials. MesoShock extends a standard particle mechanics package into a Dissipative Particle Dynamics with Conserved Energy (DPDCE) engine and, along with s a collection of python modules, provides prediction of pressure, temperature, internal energy, and reaction extent during microstructure interaction with shock waves for energetic materials of interest.
