BALFOUR Technologies LLC
Business Identifier: 4D visualization technology
Public Profile:
BALFOUR Technologies LLC was formed in 1999 as a result of a merger between Balfour Computer Systems and Infinity Technologies. The goal of BALFOUR is to focus on the development and deployment of its patent-pending fourDscape/fourDviz technology. fourDviz™, the initial 4D visualization technology development, grew out of a joint collaboration between Balfour Computer Systems and Infinity Technologies in 1997, as an in-house tool utilized to produce 4D visualization deliverables for transportation and AEC (architecture, engineering, construction) consulting contracts. Further development was fueled by Robert Balfour's doctoral research in "Temporal Visualization and Computer-Generated Holography", and eventually fourDviz™ software was being licensed to clients. Balfour Technologies LLC is a leading developer of four dimensional, integrated visualization technology for a variety of markets. As a leading developer of state-of-the art simulation and visualization technology, the company won a Long Island Software Award (LISA) for Technology Innovation in its first year of existence (1999) and a US patent in 2006. Also in 2006 the Company was awarded two Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contracts from The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Science and Technology (S&T) directorate one for Automated Situation Awareness (ASA) and one for an Emergency Responder Tracking System (ERTS). In 2007 the Company received a Phase II SBIR contract from DHS for the ASA technology. Simulation Technology Experts: Balfour Technologies has extensive knowledge with over 60 years of combined real-time simulation and visualization technology. This includes high-fidelity aircraft flight and full-mission simulators, electronic systems and maintenance trainers, and operational simulators for advanced transportation systems. Real-World Experience: Balfour provides real-world experience and firsthand knowledge in working with Federal, State and Local Governments as well as First Responders, Law Enforcement officials and the Military in events ranging from: The attack on the World Trade Center on 9/11/2001, working at the Emergency Mapping and Data Center at Pier 92 in NYC The Tsunami in 12/2004, working with Cornell University to create web based GIS for disaster response teams in Sri Lanka and Thailand. The hurricanes in the 2004 and 2005 seasons, by providing image processing software and aerial photo mosaics of the devastated areas as both pre and post event datasets to USACE and FEMA and the states of Florida, Mississippi and Louisiana Emergency Operations Centers during Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The 2004 Republican National Convention in NYC and the 2005 Presidential Inauguration in Washington DC, working with the NYPD, FBI, U.S Capitol Police and National Geospatial Intelligence Agency in a Multi Agency effort by providing large scale city wide image mosaics and software.
