Getting down to business: It is important to stress that SBIR ASSETS is specifically designed NOT to be a passive, attendance-only experience. The SBIR ASSETs Forum which convenes in Boston December 9-11, 2009 is better thought about as a component in a carefully crafted, several-staged process designed to bring together Tech Seekers with those SBIR-STTR Awardees best qualified to meet their particular needs. Deliberately scoped out as a smaller, by-invitation event - about 100-120 people only - to support useful interaction, this highly pro- active effort is grounded in a structured system of needs-matching which plays out in the weeks before the event. This format and extended set-up approach ensures
that the right people are in the room when the event is convened and
that some of the very useful groundwork has been done to enable everyone involved quickly to get down to business.
|
| Being involved in the Annual SBIR ASSETs Forum is proving very useful to a range of Tech Seekers interested in being able systematically to tap into the SBIR-STTR talent pool. However, those tasked with these responsbilities are often at different stages re. the types (and numbers) of relationship they seek. Therefore, FOUR different levels of |
| |
SBIR-experienced Tech Seekers with an in-place defined agenda:
On a first-come, first served basis, provision is made for some 15-18 Tech Seekers willing and able
-- to work with us pre-event actively to identify those areas of technology interest and the requisite skills sets of particular importance to them and
-- to interact before and during the event with that carefully selected population of SBIR-involved firms identified as having the requisite capabalities and skill-sets to meet those requirements |
|
| These experienced and targeted persons may assume EITHER a Four- OR Three-Star Account status. The major difference between the two levels is primarily the number of search areas in which they opt to engage. |
| |
Not yet ready for this level of commitment? For those Tech Seekers not yet entirely comfortable with providing areas of technology interest for pre-event matching or, even more commonly, not yet entirely sure what to ask for, a Two-Star review status as been established. This account provides for only ONE pre-event topic. Though limited, this topic will serve to match you up directly with firms that are in your space. You may opt to make this One Topic very general and open-ended OR it can be quite narrow and specific. |
| |
Observer Status? Tech Seekers interested in just knowing more about what the SBIR Community is about, what relevant work is ongoing within this population, but not yet able to assume the pro-active role involved of a Four- or Three-Star account, or even the Two-Star review account are encouraged to consider the One-Star observer status. While not requiring a pro-active pre-event role, One-Star account holders will have pre-event contact to the full range of Awardee Nutshells. These are the overview Capability Statements submitted by some of those SBIR Awardees selected by event organizers as undertaking leading-edge work in various fields. It is anticipated that, as for previous SBIR ASSET sessions, many of these firms will be in attendance at the March Event. |
