        Note that TOPs Sessions (at the event) are designated Open or Closed
  • Closed Access sessions:
    In major part, closed sessions address those received Topics that are fairly specific. The Tech Seeker involved has an active interest in working with an external source to address the area indicated. How that relationship will play out may well not be determined but the intent is declared and the discussion that is expected to take place in the session will have more of the characteristics of a Bidders Meeting than an Informational Briefing.
        To participate in these closed sessions require the Awardee to submit a White Paper - a much more specific document designed to show that they understand the problem and have the relevant skills to respond.

    To be admitted into the Closed Access Session, the Tech Seeker must indicate that they accept to White paper as the basis for further interaction.

  • Open Access sessions:
    Open Sessions are scheduled to address Topic(s) that are more general in nature and/or that may have several sub-headings of technology interest. These Topics have most commonly
        EITHER been submitted somewhat later in the Topic Solicitation cycle leaving limited time to do a targeted emailing to qualified Awardees
        OR involve Tech Seekers who are somewhat new to the SBIR space and less knowledgeable about what SBIR Awardees are capable of doing.
        To participate in these sessions, the Awardee is required to submit a limited response of interest. Called Issued Tickets, these include some very brief indication of their relevant skill-set.
