  • "All Politics is Local!"
This famous quote from Tip O'Neil, long-time Speaker of the House of Representatives and Member from Massachusetts, speaks volumes to what drives much of the interests of Members of Congress and the decision they make. This drives the essence of our current SBIR-STTR Reauthorization campaign.
    • How are things working in my District?
    • Is what is under consideration important to people in my District?
    • How will what is being proposed affect my constituents?
    • What do they think about this?
    Giving the story local relevance:
From the very earliest days of SBIR, we have maintained sophisticated SBIR-STTR relational databases on- and offline tracking in exquisite detail not only every award in a single system but substantial and directly relevant information on every awardee
. These data include a business profile (contact info, previous company names, primary business focus, technology capabilities, founding data, employment, revenue stream etc); all patents and citations; as applicable, detailed VC activity, M&A transactions; IPO and all relevant subsequent stock data; collaborative relationships; bios of key personnel etc.
These very powerful, proprietary systems - entirely developed with company resources - allow us to undertake a range of detailed analysis - including what is going on across all agencies, among a particular set of firms (e.g. VC funded) and, critically, in a particular State.
         As a powerful support to
    • scheduled sessions with Members or other types of communication with their offices
    • and/or for integration into published articles in your local press etc,
both of which are discussed in more detail elsewhere on this site, we are setting up to provide those awardees who work with us some appropriate level of SBIR analysis to give it that local interest.

Caveat: The extent of this data must be limited and we will need as much advanced notice as you can give us -- we are a very small firm with limited staff capability. Additionally, there must be acknowledgment of source in any printed/writtten materials. However, it has been our experience that telling the local story can make a huge difference to the likelihood that people will read/listen ... and to the impact the piece can have.

Synopsis of key SBIR-STTR elements on every State:
On this page is Screen Capture of the Lead Page from that part of our regular InKnowVation website known as ....in the States. This provides an

    • on-the-fly Working Analysis of the Exent and Form of SBIR Participation in that State.
    • Also included is a Tracking of the SBIR-STTR dollars received by every State against the accumulation of the program across all agencies.

Given the extensive - and difficult to understand - support by key Missouri elected offocials for the BIO and NVCA SBIR positions, perhaps fittingly in this case, we have opted to use State of Missouri. To see actual page, simply double click on that picture.

From this page any User can access a similar page with a Full Synopsis for every State. These data should be more than enough for most Users. On a more limited basis - - for particularly key sessions with your Members etc, - a more in-depth analysis can be carfted offline. These will be in a Powerpoint format such that particularly charts and graphs etc can be re-used and incorporated into other materials.
